My foxgloves, bleeding hearts, hostas, and ferns are up and safe after a bad frost about a week ago...I have a small shade garden in the very back of the yard, with a little patio, a perfect place to read a book when the weather heats up.
These are such English looking flowers...I saw Miss Potter over the weekend, and while I'm not overly fond of quiet, feel-good movies, I was really looking forward to this one. I have been a Beatrix Potter fan ever since I was a little girl. Have you seen her botanical drawings of fungi, or her sketches of the Lake Country landscape? She was an amazingly gifted naturalist and artist as well as being an author/illustrator. And her home is definitely on my list of "places I need to visit."
For a wonderful blog featuring the English, in this case, Yorkshire, landscape and nature, visit Richard Bell's site. He is a gifted observer and recorder of his lovely surroundings. Just reading it gives me a lift!
P.S. I've been thinking that I should start to use a digital watermark or signature of some type. Does anyone have an (easy) suggestion for a tutorial for me to look at?
